Okay, with last year’s overhyped artists like Tyler, The Creater and James Blake, I immediately fell in love with their albums on initial listen. But two or three listens later I realised how absolutely tragic both James Blake and Goblin were. So I thought I wouldn’t post my initial thoughts on Born To Die straight away in case I made the same mistake. But yeah, this album is shit too. The first four songs (three of which have been out for a long time) are absolutely stunning and beautiful, but then the album goes really commercial and produces really horrible generic R&B type beats, I have absolutely no idea why. It’s so surprising, Born To Die just sounds really trashy and I thought it was going to be the classiest thing I would have ever listened to. Unfortunate. At least I still have Video Games.
